FIRE PROTECTION RATINGS:
ASTM E-84 (NFPA 255), ANSI/UL 723 and UBC 8-1

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
1500° Series® FRV-GF is a clear transparent solvent based intumescent fire retardant finish, designed for interior use on gym floors and other wood floor surfaces, where maximum resistance to abrasion, scrubbing and washing is required. 1500 Series… is also suitable for use on other interior surfaces such as paneling, doors, trim, wainscot, stairs, cabinetry, trim and other wooden furnishings. It is available in low, semi and high gloss finishes. In the presence of heat or flame, the coating puffs up (intumesces) and forms a thick sponge like cellular foam layer. This foam layer insulates the substrate reducing the penetration of heat and flame spread.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
All surface preparation should be carried out according to good painting practices. Remove all loose peeling or powdery paint from previously coated surfaces. All dirt, grease, oil, wax, and other foreign matter MUST be removed with a detergent, rinse surface thoroughly with clear water and allow to dry to the touch. Repair all cracks, holes, and other surface irregularities. Allow to dry and sand lightly. All glossy or smooth surfaces should be dulled with sand paper. For best appearance, new previously uncoated surfaces should be sealed with a thinned down coat of 1500 Series… High Gloss and mineral spirts (1 pint of mineral spirits to 1 gallon of 1500 Series FRV-GF This is especially important if treatment is for a porous wood surface (i.e. Masonite, OSB, oak, etc.) and desire a final low or semi-gloss clear appearance. All sanding, filling of nail holes etc. should be completed prior to the application of the thinned down solution of 1500 Series FRV-GF

APPLICATION:
1500° Series® FRV-GF can be applied by brush, roller, airless or conventional heavy duty spray equipment. Mix thoroughly before application. If a sealer has been applied to the wood substrate allow the sealer to fully dry before application.

SUGGESTED COVERAGE RATE:
Apply at a uniform coverage rate of 400 sq. ft. per gallon. The coverage rate will vary depending on the porosity of the substrate being treated. Allow to dry a minimum of 12 hours or until hard. Lightly sand, clean dust from the surface and apply a second coat at the same coverage rate. Two coats are required to comply with the Class “B” fire retardant rating achieved

DRYINGTIME:
Dries to touch in 4-6 hours, can be recoated in 12 hours. Ambient conditions of temperature and humidity may affect drying time. Do not apply second coat until first coat is hard to the touch.

THINNERS:
