4.What solutions to these problems does International Fire Shield have?
Using over 100 years of combined experience in the flame retardant manufacturing industry, International Fire Shield has put programs and specifications together for facilities with flame retardant compliance issues.

       Our Solutions:

  • A. International Fire Shield offers facility Evaluation Services. The evaluations match applications for interior finishes and decorative materials with UL, ULC and ICC classified flame retardant paints, varnishes and other coatings.

  • B. International Fire Shield has a Certified Applicator Program called Flame Retardant University. This one and half day course trains certified applicators how to evaluate, apply and maintain material compliance.

  • C. UV Identification Tracking Program. Certified applicators stamp completed applications with an invisible strategically located stamp. This stamp, visible only under our provided UV lights, can be examined annually by inspectors to identify items treated, date, product used, certified applicator, term and length of certification. On laundered items the stamp disperses indicating re-treatment is needed. On applications of paints and varnishes, our stamp is permanent until repainting. The stamp number refers back to the corresponding batch number at the manufacturing plant.

  • D. Monitoring Program. All certified applications are required to apply to International Fire for a Flame Proof Certificate generating software with matching proof of product purchase, the substrate items treated with the product (including square footage/coverage) to assure:

    • 1. Proper product applied to proper substrate.
    • 2. Proper amount of flame retardant used to render the finished item or decorative material code compliant.
    • 3. Three months prior to the expiration date, notice is give to client that reapplication is needed.

  • E. Fire requires heat, fuel & oxygen. By reducing, monitoring and maintaining Flame retardant interior finishes and decorative materials, International Fire Shield has for the first time in flame retardant history given the industry a fourth important fire fighting tool to compliment sprinklers, suppressions and alarms.
